Department of Public Works Mascot Design

Early 2018, I was contracted by the City of Richmond, Virginia to design a mascot for the Department of Public Works. The Department was looking for a face to represent the hardworking people who maintain the conditions of the city. They were looking for a strong, superhero-like figure who would embody the work that's done around the city, as well as an engaging community experience. In collaboration with a costume designer, the process took about 4-5 months with minor tweaks and revisions. December 1st, 2018, Mr. Public Works (P-DUB for short) made his debut appearance at the Richmond Holiday Parade. I was fortunate enough to walk with him in the parade, being able to see my idea literally come to life.
